STOPPIES/ENDOS

What is the difference between an endo and a stoppie?

It is not set in stone, but the general consensus is that a stoppie lifts the rear wheel off the ground as the bike comes to a sudden stop, whereas an endo is when the bike rolls on the front wheel. Stoppies are much more dangerous because once you jam the front brake, you have no control over when, or if, the rear wheel will stop rising. So with that in mind, here are the steps to do an endo:

-Cruise around 30-45mph
-Pull in the clutch
-Using only your first two fingers, apply hard braking to compress the front suspension
-Once compressed, give an additional squeeze (not grab) of the brake.

It will take tons of time and practice to get the timing and braking force right. Once you are up, you will have to modulate the front braking force just as you would with the throttle in a wheelie. Be careful not to try them on cold or wet roads/tires as you will skid your front tire. If you feel the front begin to skid, immediately release the front brake!! This should bring you back down to earth with merely a shattered confidence and possibly a load in your pants.
