BURNOUTS

Aside from the practical use of heating up your tire at the dragstrip, burnouts are usually performed by people who like to show off and can’t do any other tricks, or by people who just like to buy new tires. If you have a lot of money lying around, try these steps to do a burnout:

-Stand up and straddle the bike.
-Pull the clutch in and hold the front brake tight!!
-Rev past the power band (above 8,000 or so)
-Let out the clutch enough that you can feel it start to bog the engine down.
-If your revs have dropped too low after slightly letting out the clutch, increase them so they are back above the power band.
-Now pop the clutch out. You should be burning rubber.

Be sure to keep your revs high and tire spinning fast enough, for if it spins too slowly, it runs the risk of catching and sending you into a takeoff-wheelie-flip combo. Cold/wet tires make burnouts easier.
